Each November the Arkansas Rice Depot takes the opportunity to thank its supporters and volunteers who help them feed and serve over 400,000 Arkansans each year.
Kye Masino, President of KYE-YAC International, was recently honored as Volunteer of the Year. ?Kye currently serves as the very first Food For Kids Ambassador, helping spread the word about childhood hunger and giving a voice to those who can’t speak for themselves. ?He and his board have raised nearly $30,000 for the Food For Kids program, ensuring that all of the kids in Garland County and much of Clark County will not be hungry the entire school year. ?Food For Kids is in over 600 schools, providing foor for over 33,000 Arkansas school children.
KYE-YAC supports the program for many reasons, a major reason being that it has been proven that kids do better at school and in life in general when they do not have to worry about where their next meal will come from. ?Food For Kids provides “kid friendly” foods and backpacks to the schools, allowing hungry children to feed themselves with full anonymity and dignity. ?KYE-YAC is proud to be a part of such a wonderful program. ?In Kye’s speech, he demonstrated the actual physical difference between a child’s brain that is fully nourished and one that is hungry. ?The difference is staggering. ?KYE-YAC encourages anyone who can to help with a tax-deductible donation or by volunteering – anyone can help make a difference!
